For years, I have been trying to understand why certain kinds of music feel like colors in my mind. Perhaps the most perplexing of these feelings was the one associated with orange. When I started at Berklee, one of my goals was to figure this out. Some of these songs have been rolling around in my head from the beginning, and finally, in 2022, I managed to manifest them.
A Certain Shade of Orange contains a variety of new styles, from funky R&B to dark rock, all featuring a prominent saxophone lead. I also played other instruments on the record, notably keyboards, as well as a sprinkle of flute and percussion.
This record was the first official project that I fully produced on my own, and this music is incredibly important to me. However, I couldn’t have done it without some very talented and wonderful people.
I was joined on this album by frequent collaborators Kyle Germain (drums, bass, guitar, vocals), Luke Germain (guitar), Mitch Zimmer (bass), Richard Stanmeyer (trumpet), and Nico Wohl (guitar)- I am beyond grateful for their talent.
