Berklee Senior Portfolio

A curated selection of some of my best projects, as submitted in my senior portfolio at Berklee College of Music in August 2022.

Take Me To Your Leader (Spaceman) is an original electronic pop song produced for CW-333 Studio Writing and Production. It is a song I had composed at the beginning of my time at Berklee, and I was thrilled to be able to bring it to life in my penultimate semester. As a horn player, this was one of my first times delving in to electronic production; I made prominent use of synthesizers and sampled sounds. Lucas Kohen per the main vocals while Sebastian Benaderet provides the electric guitar solo. The track was fully produced, mixed and mastered by Jack Bertelli.

Ad Music- This video features a pair of 30 second advertisements for Apple, re-scored with new original music produced and mixed by Jack Bertelli.

Here is an arrangement of Bleed it Dry by rock band Alter Bridge- I made this for Vocal Writing in Spring 2021. I wrote the arrangement myself; my good friend Kyle Germain helped me to record many of the parts I could not play myself. As he is currently based in Nashville, TN, we held remote recording sessions as he recorded the lead vocals and harmonies, guitar parts, as well as the drums. I then recorded horn parts, MIDI bass, keyboard parts, percussion, and various background vocals. Produced and mixed by Jack Bertelli.

This an arrangement of Daniel Powter’s Bad Day, written in Summer 2021 for Advanced Ensembles. This was one of the first times I had ever used my own voice on a project; I sung lead vocals as well as all the background parts. The instructions for the assignment required a prominent horn section as well, so for this reason there I arranged a sax soli section, as well as a played a saxophone solo. Besides vocals and horns, the rest of the instrumentation is sequenced- but combined with the live component creates a convincing pop/rock band feel.

Neptune is an original instrumental electronic piece composed this semester for CW-461 Electronic Writing & Production. The style was somewhat new to me, but I had a great time experimenting with different synths and drum sounds, as well as learning techniques from other electronic artists. The piece is designed to evoke a trance-like feeling, as if one were to be drifting peacefully in space, perhaps floating by the icy blue planet Neptune.
